...this morning we had a light smattering of rain, which wouldn't normally be a remarkable occurrence worth writing about in the UK – indeed it might be a daily thing if you opened your posts with the day's weather – if it were not for most of the UK being desparate for rain, it's so many weeks ago now we were looking dolefully at Saharan sand deposits drying on our cars after yet another heavy shower, and now we are living through our own Saharan desert temperatures and no rain creating a lot of our own desiccated golden sand, but there's little chance the smattering we've had here is going to top up many reservoirs as it's falling – or more like lightly descending under some protest – then evaporating away within moments in the heat, but it IS rain, and the view over the garden does contain a few green signs of it getting through to earth and being welcomed by my distinctly non-Saharan and increasingly brown plantlife...
